Local and national membership all changed for 2007, and the new scheme continues for 2008. You can join INVOC, the Scottish Orienteering Association (SOA) and the British Orienteering Federation (BOF) as a Local or as a National member. Local membership is fine unless you go orienteering outside Scotland or go to major championships (which includes the British Championships at Culbin (Nairn) in 2008). As a Local member you'll be kept up to date with what is going on locally by email, and you also receive the SOA magazine SCORE and various BOF mailings. SCORE is sent out every 2 months and includes all that is happening on the Scottish orienteering scene. National members also receive further BOF publications and benefits, along with entry rights to British Championship events and discounted entry to events throughout the UK.
If you are new to orienteering you can join INVOC/SOA/BOF as a Local member for their first year for FREE!! To take advantage of this just get the form from the BOF web site http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/downloads/documents/MembershipForm.pdf or request one from Sue (see below). Fill out the form, send it to BOF, and that is you signed up for the rest of the year!
Renewals for 2008: Renewals: you can get a discount if you pay by Direct Debit. Some details of the new scheme are still a bit confused. For more information please contact Sue Nicolson, membership@invoc.org.uk. |
