Inverness Orienteering Club was founded in 1978 and was one of the original orienteering clubs in the Highlands. Our area covers terrain both north and south of the Great Glen and as far afield as Sutherland and Speyside. We have strong links with our neighbouring clubs in Badenoch & Strathspey and along the Moray Coast. We put on a whole range of events from small local evening events up to major national competitions to suit all standards. Why not come along and try orienteering?

INVOC has a strong coaching emphasis, particularly for juniors, and we encourage people of all ages to participate in the sport. Throughout the season the Club organises coaching events suitable for all. If you are interested in coaching or joining the Club please get in touch - see the Contact page.

Jamie Stevenson Trophy 2009
Details on the INVOC JST page.

Junior Inter-Areas, Borders, 6th/7th June
North brought the Scottish Junior Inter-Area trophy back again, with help from our INVOC representatives.
The North team came 1st in the relays and 1st in the individuals. Finlay was in the 2nd placed relay team, Callum was 1st on Orange, and Rowan was 1st on Yellow with Finaly 2nd. All INVOC juniors can be very proud of their results!

Scottish Champs, Kincraig, 23rd May
Congratulations first to Lesley and her team, and to Stewart, Dave and the other officials, for putting on a great weekend of orienteering.
some of the INVOC winners
A big well done to our Scottish Champions this year: Jo Shepherd (W18L), Marsela McLeod (W45L) and Lilian Davidson (W75L). Also honourable mentions to runners-up Finlay Todd (M10A), Joyce Brunton (W55L) and Ken Davidson (M75L); and our B/Short winners Kieran Gebicke-Kerr (M10B), Siggy Craig-Gould (M21S), James Laird (M40S), Sue Nicolson (W55S), Joan Noble (W60S) and Adrienne Sowood (W65S). And a mention for Alasdair too - 6th in Elite, not bad for a youngster! Apologies if I've missed anyone....

2009 British Orienteering Junior Selections
Well done to Joanna Shepherd on selection for the British Orienteering summer tour to Norway. And Alasdair McLeod made the Junior World Champs team, the pinnacle for our top juniors - he may be running fro EUOC now but still deserves our congratulations!

2009 British Sprint Championships,

2009 Scottish Junior Squad
Congratulations (again) to Joanna and Rosalind Shepherd, selected for the Scottish Junior Squad (again) this year.

Junior Coaching:

Jamie Stevenson Trophy, Pitmedden, Perth, Sunday 21st June - Team INVOC 3rd! Well done to all!

Enjoy the summer, we'll try to fix up some more activities after the holidays.

INVOC CLUB Meets:
When practical we try to arrange a monthly (October - April) informal club social/practice visit to a NatCen Regular Orienteering Map Programme area - a chance to join others to get out in the forest (or on the moor), have a run/walk, maybe practice some orienteering skills, pick up a few tips, and get together in the local pub or cafe after. Likely to suit Light Green standard and above.

Watch out for further information in the Autumn - current thinking is 18th October, 8th November and 6th December.
