Inverness Orienteering Club was founded in 1978 and was one of the original orienteering clubs in the Highlands. Our area covers terrain both north and south of the Great Glen and as far afield as Sutherland and Speyside. We have strong links with our neighbouring clubs in Badenoch & Strathspey and along the Moray Coast. We put on a whole range of events from small local evening events up to major national competitions to suit all standards. Why not come along and try orienteering?

INVOC has a strong coaching emphasis, particularly for juniors, and we encourage people of all ages to participate in the sport. Throughout the season the Club organises coaching events suitable for all. If you are interested in coaching or joining the Club please get in touch - see the Contact page.

Dick Amour:
It is with great sadness we report the sudden death of Dick Amour on 30th October 2007.

Ray Walder has put together a short piece for us with some thoughts and memories: Dick Amour 1939-2007.

INVOC held a memorial O event for Dick at Drumashie on 13th April 2008 which raised £700 for Mountain Rescue and the Search And Rescue Dog Association.

Spey 2007 Scottish 6 Day:
A pretty good week of orienteering, hope you all enjoyed it. Thanks to all who helped out, at Camerory and elsewhere. I noticed a couple of INVOCs placing 3rd overall - Marsela McLead in W40A (with a win at Inshriach) and Joan Noble in W60L.

19/07/08: SOL/home page update, migration survey
25/06/08: SOL info.

Survey Offers Chance to win Belladrum Tickets

Friendly or boring, remote or safe – these are some of the conflicting descriptions of life in the Highlands and Islands provided by young people who have been participating in a major on-line survey.

Thousands of people aged between 15 and 30 are being urged to fill out the 10-minute survey at www.youthmigration.org in an effort to improve the attractiveness of the region for their age group.

Participants have a chance of winning one of six pairs of tickets to Belladrum Tartan Hearts Festival in August, or one of 25 Amazon vouchers each worth £20. The survey closes on July 28.

If you are aged 15-30 you can find out more and fill in the survey at www.youthmigration.org

Club Training for 2008:
We have started a regular monthly training/social trip to the NatCen Regular Orienteering Map Programme in 2008. A chance to join others to practice your orienteering, have a run, pick up a few tips, and maybe get together in the local pub or cafe after. Likely to suit Light Green standard and above.

We probably won't schedule anything over the Summer but watch out for future dates.
