INVOC RouteGadget

Not familiar with RouteGadget? RouteGadget is a utility that lets you enter and view orienteering routes. A good place to find out more is the RouteGadget UK site, www.routegadget.co.uk (thanks Paul), with links to all UK RouteGadget events. Or go international via www.routegadget.net. There is a help page available when you run RouteGadget and it is fairly easy to follow if you are familiar with this sort of thing.

When you run RouteGadget you download an active component (a Java applet) that runs on your computer. It is not very big and should be restricted by your browser to run in a 'sandbox' environment, unable to access other resources on your machine. However, it is offered here strictly 'as is' and we can make no guarantees about the safety of using it. We are running with version gadget_060830, which is a bit out of date now but it still works.

For each event you also download a copy of the map. This can be pretty large - e.g. it is nearly 1MB for Anagach - you might want a cuppa/dram/short training run while it downloads if you do not have broadband. And remember maps are copyright...
